I got this adorable HappyBand to try out! Not only is it stylish and well-made, it was super comfortable. I tried it out on a 5-mile run and it did not slip one bit! Normally I have to adjust headbands because they slowly creep up the back of your head, but HappyBands did not! I also tried it out for a yoga. No slipping! I love this HappyBand!
One of the reasons I like this brand so much is due to the amount of elastic. If you notice in the picture above, the HappyBand is mostly fabric, with just a little bit of elastic. I've noticed that this helps to prevent slipping. I've noticed that the more elastic a headband has, the more prone it is to slip.

The Rainbow Cleaning System has been around from 1935, but I am just hearing about it. The Rainbow is a Total Cleaning System that looks to nature with the way it cleans. It washes and cleans everything in your home, including what you breathe. Think of it as a rainstorm in your home, without getting anything wet!
Do you notice dust floating around your house? It is probably most easy to see on bright, sunny days, but even if you can't see it, the dust is always there. All this dust is air pollution that you are breathing in day in and day out. Have you ever gone INSIDE to get a breath of fresh air? I don't think so!
The Rainbow gives total air treatment to rid your house and air of all gross particles and smells. It uses Mother Nature’s most powerful element, water, to trap dirt and odors, returning only naturally clean, water-washed air to your home environment. The water filtration system captures 99.997% (by weight) of typical household dirt. Remaining microscopic particles are caught by their HEPA Neutralizer Filtration System. This two-stage filtration combination removes nearly 100% of dirt and contaminants. Wet dust CANNOT fly!
Not only is the Rainbow used as a floor and carpet cleaner, it also purifies and deodorizes the air. The Rainbow is meant to be run on high, daily for 30 minutes, as air treatment. Air is drawn into the machine, where dust and dirt is trapped in the water reservoir, and clean air with optional Rainbow fragrances is returned to your house. There is also a low setting that is meant to be run for longer periods of time to continually filter your air. The Rainbow is certified asthma & allergy friendly™ by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and is perfect for those who need a allergen-free environment.
Did you know that 1 ounce of vacuum dirt contains more than 11.5 billion bacteria? Regular vacuums cannot truly eliminate dust and dirt particles. Airflow is what picks up the dirt. It is not possible to maintain airflow with holes in the filter (minuscule particles can get through) or when the filter gets clogged with dirt. You are essentially moving the dirt from one spot to another. The Rainbow does not use bags or filter, so there is no loss in airflow. All dirt goes directly into the water reservoir, which can then be cleanly disposed of in the toilet or outside.
The Rainbow comes with different tools to help make cleaning a little easier: Floor & Wall Brush, Upholstery Tool, Confined Space Cleaner & Inflator Tool, Dusting Brush, Crevice Tool, Refrigerator Coil Cleaner, and Aerofresh Bag. There are other nozzles available to help with specific tasks: mopping, shampooing, etc. The RainMate is also available. It utilizes pure, fresh water to circulate gently scented air into your home environment. This is perfect for the kitchen, bedroom, or other area that you want to keep fresh!
I enjoyed the presentation of the Rainbow System and see its value in keeping a clean home and environment. I really like the air purifying qualities and think it would be helpful to eradicate pet and food smells, as well as clean the air from all the dust! And because the Rainbow is on wheels, it was very easy to move around while I was cleaning my floor!
What makes The Rainbow different from any other product? It is the only thing that purifies the air while it cleans. That's what makes it so important. It is a dust eliminator. Nothing else does that.

Have you heard of Road ID? It is an awesome company that provides a way to carry ID with you while you are out and about and may not be carrying your wallet or other identification.
From the Road ID website: ID should be as common and important as putting on a seat belt when getting into a car, or strapping on a bike helmet to go for a ride. Identification is important for people of all ages. If you are a runner, cyclist, jogger, walker, hiker, climber, skater, skier, boarder, or someone who doesn't spend all of their time on the couch, then we encourage you to wear ID. Kids need ID too as they rarely have ID when they go out for a bike ride or walk to school.
Here are some stats for you: Each year over 450,000 of us are taken to hospitals unconscious and without ID. Year after year, over 122,000 runners, walkers, and cyclists are hit by cars. Thousands more suffer blackouts, concussions, heart attacks, heat strokes and other serious accidents. The National Safe Kids Campaign estimates that "every day, 39,000 children are injured seriously enough to require medical attention."
I got my first Road ID over a year ago. I chose to get the Road ID Interactive, which allows me to have an online profile with any and all information an emergency responder would need: emergency contacts, allergies, insurance information, etc.
I wear my Road ID everytime I go out without my purse: while running, hiking, swimming, etc. It provides peace of mind that in case something happens to me, police will know who I am and who to call.
Road ID is also great while traveling! I have seen families at Disney World all wearing bracelets, listing their names and contact phone numbers, just in case the child became separated from the parents. I thought this was such a great idea!
Road IDs are very inexpensive for comfort they provide. And they are stylish, too! The bracelet styles come in different widths and colors, and you can even add a badge to decorate it. I have two different color bands that I switch out to match my outfit: Orange and Red. You can get a Road ID as a bracelet, shoe ID, ankle ID, dogtag, or as a Dog Tag (don't want to leave out our furry friends from being protected!).
Do you have a Road ID? If not, you should! Please visit Road ID today and protect yourself!
Congrats to Karrie Middaugh!

I had the opportunity to attend the Capital Home & Garden Show in Chantilly, Virginia on February 21, 2014. I had an awesome time browsing the vendors, seeing beautiful garden displays, talking with the guest speakers, and getting lots of ideas for my home improvement wish list!
I was able to hear Jennifer Bertrand, winner of HGTV's Design Star Season 3, talk about color and how to use it in your home. She is a very dynamic lady and very easy to talk with. She was very helpful in giving me tips for how to improve my kitchen and living room :)
Jennifer spoke about how life is about perspective. That it's not how much something costs, but how you use it. This is important to remember for those of us with very limited funds. We should start with the basics, and work up from there.
She recommends choosing a whole-house color palate, instead of randomly picking colors for each room. The colors should be related and should flow into each other. You should ask yourself how it feels as you walk through the space. Are there dramatic or subtle changes?
You should also think about where you want people to first look when they enter a room. This is where you should add a punch of color with artwork, accessories, pillows, and other items.
The most important thing to take away is this quote from Jennifer:"What's trendy? ... Who cares! It's what you love!"
However you choose to decorate your house, make sure YOU are the one who loves it. YOU are the one that has to see it everyday!
I also had the opportunity to listen to Curb Appeal Host John Gidding. He was very friendly and welcomed everyone to ask a lot of questions. His session included before and after pictures of houses from his show. It was amazing to see all the transformation of the yards and houses. I wish they would come to the DC area so he could do my house!!!
John gave everyone some easy tips for quick fixes for their house. His number one rule is to NEVER have the sticker numbers on your mailbox or house. Invest in some inexpensive real numbers! He said that the mailbox is the first people see at your house and you don't want them to get the wrong idea about your house. I went home and looked at my house. I am good, but all of my neighbors have those stickers!
Another tip is that even if you never use it - build it, and it will help your Curb Appeal. This is from the idea that you should put some thought into your yard decor. A well placed chair or bench can make your home look inviting, even if you don't actually sit in the bench! (By the way, there were a lot of benches on display in the garden areas ... they really do look good and inviting!)
If you have a small yard, a good way to add dimension is to have a flower bed with one a straight edge on one side and a curved edge on the other, instead of just having a square bed. This would be an easy fix if you already have the bed in your yard. You would just need to add a little bit more dirt and mulch to fill it out. To give your yard an instant makeover, add new mulch! This can easily brighten the look, especially in the winter.
Disney Katie reader, Kendall, wanted me to ask: "When is the best time to plant grass?" John laughed at this question and said: I always use sod, and you can plant it at any time. It is a lot faster and nicer to just plant sod than to grow grass from seed.
The Home & Garden Show is a great resource to get ideas for updating your home and yard. I certainly have a lot to think about and hope to get some projects done soon!
